Lumberjacks Win 2-1 in a Shootout

Bloomington, Illinois. - The Muskegon Lumberjacks won their second straight game, beating the Bloomington Thunder 2-1 in a shootout. During the first period, both teams were able to generate opportunities, but unable to break through. Lumber- jacks goaltender Joey Daccord stopped all 13 shots he faced, while Thunder goaltender Hayden Lavigne stopped all 12 Lumberjacks shots. The game remained scoreless through one period.

Midway through the second period, Lumberjacks forward Jake Coleman broke the tie, deflecting a shot-pass from Logan Drevitch to give the Lumberjacks a 1-0 lead. Drevitch and Max Humitz picked up the assists on the goal.

The Thunder finally broke through with five minutes to go in the game. Logan Lambdin was credited for the goal. The game remained 1-1 until the end of regulation.

The overtime frame was exciting hockey with opportunities on both ends. With 51 seconds to go, the Lumber- jacks went on the power play for the first time of the night. However they were unable to breakthrough, and the game went into a shootout.

After three rounds of the shootout, the game was still not decided as both teams scored once. Collin Adams scored in the fourth round of the shootout with a wrist shot from the hash marks to give the Lumberjacks a 2-1 shootout lead. After, Lumberjacks goalie Daccord was able to stop Thunder Captain Jake Slaker, the Lumber- jacks picked up their second straight win by a score of 2-1.

The Lumberjacks improve to (4-6) on the season and 3-0 in overtime, and look to continue their winning ways when they travel to Fargo to take on the Fargo Force (5-6-1).

The next home game is November 20th when the Lumberjacks take on the Dubuque Fighting Saints. It will be Military Appreciation Night as the Lumberjacks will support all of the local veterans.
