Storm Notch Comeback Win in Preseason Debut

Sioux City, IA. - The Tri-City Storm erased two 3rd period deficits to post a come-from-behind overtime win over the Sioux City Musketeers on Friday in the opening game of the preseason. Mitchell Miller scored a power-play goal in overtime to give the Storm the 4-3 victory. Andrew Strathmann, Gavin Brindley, and Tyler Kostelecky also scored goals for the Storm in the win. Arsenii Sergeev recorded the victory in net for Tri-City after stopping 29 of Sioux City's 32 shots on goal. Tri-City returns to action tomorrow in a 4:00pm game against the Waterloo Black Hawks at the Tyson Events Center.
After a scoreless 1st period, Sioux City's Jimmy Clark netted his first goal of the preseason at 11:37 of the 2nd period to give the Musketeers a 1-0 lead. After outshooting Tri-City 7-6 in the 1st period, Sioux City outshot Tri-City 17-4 in the 2nd period and carried a one-goal lead into the 3rd period.
Luke Antonacci scored in the opening five minutes of the 3rd period to increase Sioux City's lead to 2-0. At 7:39 of the 3rd period, Andrew Strathmann netted the Storm's first goal of the preseason to cut the Musketeers' lead in half. Strathmann's goal was assisted by Lleyton Roed and Victor Czerneckianair. Less than one minute later, at 8:24 of the 3rd period, Gavin Brindley scored to tie the game at 2-2. Parker Lindauer recorded the lone assist on the goal. With under eight minutes to play in the game, Sioux City's Ben Steeves gave the Musketeers another lead in the game. Steeves' goal was scored at 12:15 of the 3rd period and gave Sioux City a 3-2 lead. With less than one minute to play in the 3rd period, Tri-City's Tyler Kostelecky scored to force an overtime finish to Friday night's game. Andrew Strathmann recorded an assist on the play. Sioux City outshot Tri-City 8-6 in the 3rd period.
Mitchell Miller scored a power-play goal thirty-five seconds into overtime to give the Storm a 4-3 win. Victor Czerneckianair notched his second assist of the game on the play. The Storm's overtime powerplay came from a 3rd period major penalty given to Sioux City's Kirklan Irey with 32 seconds left to play. The Storm improved to 1-0-0-0 in the 2021-2022 preseason in Friday's exhibition victory at the Tyson Events Center.
