Storm Hit the Road for Showdown with Lancers

Ralston, NE. - The Tri-City Storm hit the road tonight for a showdown with the Omaha Lancers at Ralston Arena. Last night at the Viaero Center, Tri-City rolled over the Lancers in a 6-0 shutout victory. Caden Villegas (2), Guillaume Richard, Cole O'Hara, Josh Eernisse, and Drew Montgomery all scored in the win. Todd Scott recorded his second shutout of the season in net. Puck drop for tonight's rematch is scheduled for 6:05pm.

Tri-City (12-8-0-1) set a new season high for most goals scored in a single game this year in last night's home win. Caden Villegas recorded a multi-goal game for the first time in his USHL career, and several Storm players scored their first career USHL goals in the victory. Guillaume Richard, Josh Eernisse, and Drew Montgomery all scored for the first time this season and for the first time in their USHL careers during last night's 6-0 home shutout of the Lancers. In the win, the Storm jumped the Des Moines Buccaneers for 3rd place in the USHL's Western Conference standings. A victory tonight over Omaha would put Tri-City in 2nd place in the conference standings. Scoring leaders for the Storm include; Carter Mazur (9), Hunter Strand (8), Rhett Pitlick (7), Mark Estapa (5), and Gavin Brindley (5). In last night's shutout win, Todd Scott improved to 9-4-0-1 in goal for Tri-City on the year. Scott's Goals Against Average (GAA) of 1.92 is the best among all USHL goalies this season. Scott has the second best Save Percentage (SV%) in the USHL following last night's game (.916%). Tri-City holds an 18-13-5-1 record against Omaha in head-to-head matchups over the last five seasons. Tri-City is now 6-3-0-1 in its last ten games and holds an 11-0-0-0 record when leading after the 2nd period this season.

Omaha (13-10-0-0) fell to 1-3-0-0 in head-to-head matchups against the Storm in last night's 6-0 road loss at the Viaero Center. The Lancers lone victory over Tri-City this season came on November 13th in the first meeting of the year between the two teams. Follow a 5-1 win over the Storm at Ralston Arena on November 13th, Omaha has now lost three consecutive matchups against the Storm. Last night's loss marked the third time this season that the Lancers have failed to score a single goal in a game. Omaha also posted shutout losses against the Des Moines Buccaneers on November 29th and December 27th. Scoring leaders for the Lancers entering tonight's home game against Tri-City at Ralston Arena include; Ryan Lautenbach (8), Tyler Carpenter (8), Kyle Bettens (5), Nolan Renwick (5), and Liam Devlin (5). Follow tonight's home game against Tri-City, Omaha travels to the Viaero Center tomorrow for the final game of a three-game weekend against the Storm. Tomorrow's game is scheduled to begin at 6:05pm in Kearney.
