Storm Fall to Lumberjacks 4-1

Kearney, NE - The Tri-City Storm fell by a final score of 4-1 Friday night to the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the opening game of a two-game series at the Viaero Center. Carter Mazur scored the Storm's only goal of the game in the 3rd period. Tri-City returns to action tomorrow night in another home matchup against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Tomorrow night's game is "Dog Night" at the Viaero Center. Tickets can be purchased by calling 308-338-8144 or by visiting www.StormHockey.com. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.

Muskegon's Alex Konovalov scored his 5th goal of the year at 13:31 of the 1st period to give the Lumberjacks a 1-0 lead. The goal was assisted by Tanner Edwards and Tyler Dunbar. Tri-City outshot Muskegon 9-6 in the 1st period but trailed by one goal entering the 2nd period.

The Lumberjacks increased its lead by three goals by scoring two goals in the final six minutes of the 2nd period. Cameron Berg scored his 19th goal of the year at 14:28 of the 2nd period, and Tanner Edwards recorded his 10th goal of the season at 17:37 of the period. Despite outshooting the Lumberjacks 14-4 in the 2nd period, Tri-City entered the 3rd period down 3-0.

Carter Mazur scored his 5th goal of the year at 5:45 of the 3rd period to cut the Muskegon lead to two goals. Mazur's goal was assisted by Calvin Dybicz. Muskegon's Christophe Fillion scored his 14th goal of the season into an empty net with just over a minute to play in the game to seal the win for the Lumberjacks. Tri-City outshot Muskegon 39-18 but dropped to 23-17-5-2 on the year in loss. Ryan Ouellette made 14 saves on 17 shots to record the loss in net tonight for Tri-City.

Tomorrow's game is a new event on the Storm's promotional calendar this year, "Dog Night" where fans are encouraged to bring their dogs with them to help cheer on the Storm! All dogs visiting the Viaero Center for Saturday's game must be on a leash at all times. Proceeds from the game will benefit the Kearney Area Animal Shelter. Like Friday, drink specials will be featured throughout the night. $1 Soda Pop Cans, $2 Busch Light Cans (12oz, while supplies last), and $3 Bud Light Cans (16oz) will be available for purchase. Following tomorrow's game, fans will get the opportunity to meet their favorite Storm player as the Viaero Center will host a post-game skate with the team.
