
Comeback Falls Short in Des Moines

URBANDALE, IA - The Omaha Lancers went down to the wire with the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday night falling 4-3.
The Lancers opened up the scoring in the first period when Zach Plucinski (8:11) blasting the puck from the right circle to beat Cameron Rowe.
In the second period, the Buccaneers took a 2-1 lead with Michael Mancinelli (1:30) and Alex Laferriere (16:18) scoring.
In the third period, the Buccaneers increased their lead to 3-1 with Timothy Lovell (3:31) scoring on the power-play. The Lancers got back on the board when Nolan Renwick (8:02) received the puck from Ryan Lautenbach to snap it past Rowe. With time winding down, the Lancers pulled McClellan for the extra attacker. Nash Nienhuis (18:32) ripped the puck from the high slot to beat Rowe to even the game 3-3. The Lancers went on the penalty-kill with 30-seconds left in the game, but the Buccaneers Alex Laferriere (19:29) shot the puck past McClellan to take the win 4-3.
The Lancers are now 26-14-7-1 with 60 points and are 2nd place in the Western Conference.
The Lancers return to action on Saturday against the Des Moines Buccaneers at Buccaneer Arena. Puck drop is at 6:05 PM. The game will be broadcasted on HockeyTV.
