Storm Drops Home Game to Stars

KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm dropped a home game to the Lincoln Stars by a final score of 5-4 Sunday night at the Viaero Center. Charlie Kinsman, Nick Roukounakis, Seth Constance, and A.J. Lacroix each netted a goal for the Storm in the loss. Tri-City will return to action next weekend with back-to-back home games against the Sioux City Musketeers. Tickets to each game, and all remaining home games at the Viaero Center for the regular season, may be purchased online at www.StormHockey.com, or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office during Box Office Hours at 308-338-8144. Puck drop for Friday's matchup is scheduled for 7:05pm CT. Saturday's game will start at 6:05pm CT.

Charlie Kinsman scored his second goal of the season at 3:51 of the 1st period to give Tri-City a one-goal advantage in the matchup. Trevor Connelly and Artemi Nizameyev each collected an assist on Kinsman's scoring play. Nick Roukounakis notched his second goal of the year at 6:33 of the opening period to put the Storm ahead by two goals. Blake Steenerson and Shaun McEwen each recorded an assist on Roukounakis' goal. Jared Mangan netted his eighteenth goal of the season for the Stars with under five minutes to play in the 1st period to cut the Storm's lead to 2-1. The final goal of Sunday's 1st period was scored with less than three minutes to play by Seth Constance. Constance's goal was netted on the powerplay, and was his fourth of the season. Jake Rozzi collected an assist on the scoring play. Tri-City carried a 3-1 lead into the 2nd period after outshooting Lincoln by an 18-7 margin in the 1st period.

Justin Mexico scored for the eighth time this year at 4:41 of the middle period to bring the Stars' deficit to 3-2. Max Ferkodic and German Yavash notched an assist on the scoring play. Jack Pechar scored the game-tying goal for Lincoln at 8:35 of the 2nd period. The goal was his fifteenth of the season, and was assisted by Jacob Rombach and Tanner Henricks. The Storm gained the lead at 10:19 of the period with A.J. Lacroix's twelfth goal of the season. Jake Rozzi recorded an assist on the scoring play. The final goal of the 2nd period was netted by Dashel Oliver with less than four minutes to play. Oliver's goal was his ninth of the season, and was assisted by Jaun Copeland and German Yavash. Tri-City outshot Lincoln 8-7 in the 2nd period, and Sunday's 3rd period began in a 4-4 tie.

The only goal of the final period was netted by Lincoln's Max Ferkodic with less than ten minutes to play. The scoring play was his sixth of the season, and was assisted by Blake Montgomery. The Storm outshot the Stars 13-7 in the 3rd period, and 39-21 overall in the contest, but fell by a final score of 5-4. Tri-City dropped to 23-17-4-4 on the 2023-2024 regular season in the loss.

Thatcher Bernstein made 16 saves on 21 shots and dropped the game in net for Tri-City. Lincoln's Yan Shostak collected the win in goal with 35 saves made on 39 shots during the matchup.

The Storm hits the ice again on Friday, March 8th, in a home game against the Sioux City Musketeers. Puck drop for the matchup is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
