Storm Drop 4-2 Decision to Black Hawks

Sioux City, IA. - The Tri-City Storm dropped a 4-2 decision Saturday afternoon to the Waterloo Black Hawks in the team's second game of the 2021-2022 preseason. Tyler Kostelecky and Jeremy Wilmer netted the Storm's goal in the loss. Chase Clark recorded the loss in goal after making 21 saves on 24 shots. Tri-City returns to action tomorrow in a rivalry matchup against the Lincoln Stars. Puck drop is scheduled for noon.

Each team recorded 5 shots on net during a scoreless 1st period. The opening goal of Saturday's preseason battle between the Storm and Black Hawks was netted by Waterloo's John Waldron. Waldron's goal was scored at 6:07 of the 2nd period and was assisted by Garret Schifsky. Twenty-seven seconds later, Tri-City's Tyler Kostelecky scored his second goal of the preseason to tie the game at 1-1. Parker Lindauer notched the lone assist on the goal. With just over five minutes to play in the 2nd period, Jeremy Wilmer notched an unassisted shorthanded goal to give the Storm a one-goal lead. Tri-City outshot Waterloo 9-8 in the 2nd period and carried a 2-1 lead into the 3rd period.

Waterloo posted three unanswered goals in Saturday's 3rd period to record a neutral-site victory over Tri-City. James Hong scored his first goal of the preseason at 2:58 of the 3rd period to tie the game at 2-2. Nicholas Ahern scored at 4:08 of the 3rd period to put the Black Hawks ahead by one goal. Owen Baker scored the final goal of the game at 8:45 to seal Waterloo's 4-2 win. Jack Williams made 18 saves on 20 shots to record the win in goal for the Black Hawks.

Tri-City dropped to 1-1-0-0 in the exhibition loss to Waterloo. The Storm now have three games remaining in the 2021-2022 preseason schedule.
