Tri-City Storm News Release
Sioux City, IA. - The Tri-City Storm defeated the Sioux City Musketeers 2-1 Friday night at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA. Nick Portz scored both of the Storm's goals in the win. Todd Scott stopped 30 of Sioux City's 31 shots to record the victory in goal. Tri-City returns to action tomorrow in a road matchup against the Omaha Lancers. Puck drop for tomorrow's road game against Omaha is scheduled for 6:05pm.
Nick Portz scored the only goal of the 1st period to give Tri-City a 1-0 lead. The goal was scored at the 12:00 mark of the period and was assisted by Steven Bellini. The Storm outshot the Musketeers 12-8 in the 1st period and carried a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period.
Sioux City's Daniel Laatsch scored the only goal of the 2nd period to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was scored unassisted at the 9:33 mark of the period. Sioux City outshot Tri-City 18-3 in the 2nd period. The game entered the 3rd period in a 1-1 tie.
Nick Portz scored his 2nd goal of the game at 11:06 of the 3rd period to give Tri-City a 2-1 lead. The goal was assisted by Mike Posma. The goal by Portz was the final scoring play of the game and the Storm won the game by a final score of 2-1. Todd Scott improved to 5-1 on the season in net for the Storm and was named the Game's 3rd Star. Nick Portz was given 1st Star honors following his two-goal performance.
