
Storm Battle Lancers in Rivalry Matchup

Ralston, NE. - The Tri-City Storm return to action tonight in a rivalry matchup against the Omaha Lancers to complete a three-game week. Last night, Tri-City defeated the Sioux City Musketeers 2-1 in the opening game of the weekend. Nick Portz netted both of the Storm's goals and Todd Scott recorded the win in net. Tonight's road game at Ralston Arena is scheduled to begin at 6:05pm.
Tri-City (5-3-0-0) picked up a bounce-back victory last night after dropping the opening game of the week on Tuesday against the Des Moines Buccaneers. In the win over Sioux City, Tri-City improved to 4th in the USHL's Western Conference standings. Through the opening eight games of the 2020-2021 regular season, scoring leaders for the Storm include; Carter Mazur (5), Hunter Strand (3), Nick Portz (2), and Mark Estapa (2). In last night's road win, Tri-City improved to 4-0 this season when leading after the 1st period. Tonight's game will be the second of nine scheduled meetings this season between the Storm and the Lancers. Tri-City dropped a 5-1 road decision to Omaha in the first head-to-head matchup of the year on November 13th. One week from tonight, Tri-City will play its fourth consecutive road game before returning home for a New Year's Eve matchup against the Lincoln Stars.
Omaha (7-3-0-0) returns to action tonight at Ralston Arena following a 5-2 home win last night over the Waterloo Black Hawks. Tyler Carpenter netted four goals and Ryan Lautenbach also scored in the victory. Jakub Dobes made 29 saves on 31 Black Hawk shots to record the win in net for the Lancers. Omaha enters tonight's game as the 2nd place team in the Western Conference standings. Omaha has outscored its opponents 35-22 to this point in the regular season. The Lancers power-play converted once last night and is currently the 2nd ranked power-play in the Western Conference at 25.0% this year. Following tonight's home game against the Storm, Omaha returns to action on Saturday, December 26th in a home matchup against the Des Moines Buccaneers.
The Storm return home to the Viaero Center in Kearney on Thursday, December 31st in a matchup against the Lincoln Stars. The team is currently offering "Buy-One-Get-One-Free" tickets to the game.
