Storm Complete Phase II of 2021 USHL Draft

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm completed Phase II of the 2021 USHL Draft on Thursday by making eighteen selections. The Storm drafted ten forwards, five defensemen, and three goaltenders. The Phase II Draft is open to players of all ages eligible to play junior hockey and who are not currently protected by another USHL team. Teams filled their roster to a total of forty-five players by the end of the draft. All veteran roster players from the 2020-2021 season were automatically protected by their current team, separate from the list of forty-five players. Following the Phase I Draft on Wednesday night, Tri-City has now completed the 2021 USHL Draft.

With the fourth overall pick in the Phase II Draft, Tri-City selected goaltender Arsenii Sergeev. Sergeev, 18, Goaltender, of Yaroslavl, Russia appeared in twenty games for the Shreveport Mudbugs (NAHL) during the 2020-2021 season. Sergeev posted a 14-4-2 record and recorded a save percentage of .936%. He also posted a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 2.17. Sergeev previously played two games for the Sioux Falls Stampede during the 2019-2020 season. He also previously played for the New Jersey Junior Titans (NAHL). Sergeev is 6'3'', 190 lbs and uncommitted.

The first of ten forwards selected in Thursday's Phase II draft was Christian Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was selected 13th overall by the Storm in the 1st Round. Fitzgerald, 18, Forward, of Coquitlam, British Columbia, skated in fourteen games during the 2020-2021 season with the Surrey Eagles (BCHL). Fitzgerald netted eleven goals and recorded twelve assists for twenty-three total points. He appeared in forty-four games with the Eagles during the 2019-2020 season and scored three goals. He also recorded three assists for six total points during the season. Fitzgerald is 6'0'', 174 lbs, and committed to Minnesota State.

Tri-City chose its first goaltender of the 2021 USHL Draft with the 39th pick in the 3rd Round. The Storm selected former goaltender Chase Clark, who played for the team last season as an Emergency Backup goaltender, but whose rights were not held by any USHL team at the conclusion of the 2020-2021 regular season. Chase Clark, 19, Goaltender, of Williamsville, New York appeared in three games with the Storm as an Emergency Backup goaltender during the 2020-2021 season. Clark made his USHL debut in net for the Storm on April 18th, 2021 in Tri-City's 4-2 home loss to the Des Moines Buccaneers. Clark posted an 18-2-1 record during the 2020-2021 season for the Jersey Hitmen (NCDC). Clark is 6'6'', 218 lbs, and uncommitted.

The Storm's next pick in the Phase II Draft was David Goyette. Tri-City selected the Canadian forward 40th overall in the 3rd Round of the draft. Goyette, 17, Forward, of Hawkesbury, Ontario, appeared in four games last season with the P.A.L Jr. Islanders (NCDC). Goyette scored three goals and provided the Islanders offense with three assists. He skated in seventy-four games for the Selects Academy at South Kent School in South Kent, Connecticut during the 2019-2020 season. Goyette scored fifty-seven goals and recorded one hundred and sixteen assists. He is 5'10'', 152 lbs, and uncommitted.

Josh Nadeau was Tri-City's next selection in the draft. The Storm selected Nadeau 70th overall in the 5th Round. Nadeau, 17, Forward, of Saint Francois-de-Madawaska, New Brunswick skated in fifteen games last season for Edmundston Blizzard (MJAHL). He netted thirteen goals and recorded eighteen assists for thirty-one total points. During the 2019-2020 season, Nadeau scored twenty-four goals and recorded thirty-two points in thirty-five total games with the Fredericton Caps U18 AAA organization. Nadeau is 5'7'', 157 lbs, and is committed to the University of Maine.

The first of five defenseman selected by Tri-City in Thursday's Phase II Draft was Cale Ashcroft, who was drafted 76th overall in the 5th Round. Ashcroft, 16, Defenseman, of St. Albert, Alberta, skated in nineteen games last season with the Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL). Ashcroft netted three goals and recorded eight assists for eleven total points. He previously skated for the Northern Alberta Elite youth organization. Ashcroft is 5'10'', 170 lbs, and is committed to the University of Denver.

Tyler Kostelecky was Tri-City's next pick in the draft. The Storm selected him 86th overall in the 6th Round. Kostelecky, 19, Forward, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, appeared in thirty-six games during the 2020-2021 season for the Minot Minotauros (NAHL). He scored seventeen goals and recorded fourteen assists for thirty-one total points. Kostelecky also previously skated for Maple Grove High School. He is 5'9'', 172 lbs, and committed to Arizona State University.

The third and final goaltender drafted by the Storm at the 2021 USHL Draft was Nick Erickson. Tri-City selected Erickson 103rd overall in the 7th Round. Erickson, 16, Goaltender, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, appeared in sixteen games last season with Hill-Murray School in Maplewood, Minnesota, and posted a record of 14-2-0. Erickson also recorded a save percentage of .937 and a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 1.18. Erickson is 6'3'', 165 lbs, and uncommitted.

Ethan Bowen was selected next by the Storm, 108th overall in the 8th Round. Bowen, 19, Forward, of Chilliwack, British Columbia, skated in nineteen games during the 2020-2021 season for the Chilliwack Chiefs (BCHL). Bowen scored eleven goals and provided the Chiefs offense with ten assists. Bowen netted twelve goals and recorded nineteen assists for Chilliwack during the 2019-2020 season. Bowen is 6'2'', 170 lbs and committed to the University of North Dakota. Bowen was drafted 207th Overall in the 7th Round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Anaheim Ducks.

Tri-City used the 111th overall pick in the 8th Round to draft Cameron O'Neill. O'Neill, 17, Forward, of Odenton, Maryland appeared in twenty-six games this season for Mount St. Charles Academy's 16U AAA team. O'Neill netted twenty-four goals and recorded thirty-three assists for fifty-seven total points. He scored fourteen goals and recorded twenty-three assists in fifty-three games with the team during the 2019-2020 season. He is 5'11'', 174 lbs and uncommitted.

The Storm selected Daniil Dolzhenko with its next pick in the Phase II Draft. He was taken 162nd overall in the 11th Round. Dolzhenko, 16, Defenseman, of Omsk, Russia, skated in six games during the 2020-2021 season with the Notre Dame Hounds U18 AAA program. He scored two goals and recorded five assists. He skated in thirty-six games during the 2019-2020 season and scored three goals. He also recorded twenty-five assists. Dolzhenko is 6'0'', 181 lbs, and committed to UMass-Lowell.

Tri-City made its next selection with the 177th overall pick in the 12th Round. Dane Dowiak, 19, Forward, of Wexford, Pennsylvania, skated in thirty-three games during the 2019-2020 season for The Gunnery in Washington, Connecticut. Dowiak scored fourteen goals and recorded twenty-nine assists for forty-three total points. Dowiak also previously played for the Yale Jr. Bulldogs and Kent School. He is 5'10'', 172 lbs and committed to Penn State University.

Garrett Szydlowski was the next player selected by the Storm in Thursday's draft. He was drafted 192nd overall n the 13th Round. Szydlowski,18, Forward, of Brighton, Michigan, appeared in fifty-three games last season for the Maryland Black Bears (NAHL). He scored nine goals and recorded seventeen assists for twenty-six total points. Szydlowski skated in forty-six games for the Black Bears during the 2019-2020 season and scored eight goals. He is 5'10'', 170 lbs, and committed to Western Michigan University.

Tri-City selected Noah Roberts 207th overall in the 14th Round of the draft with its next pick. Roberts, 15, Defenseman, of Aurora, Ontario, currently skates for St. Andrew's College. He appeared in four games for the team during the 2019-2020 season. Roberts previously skated for the York Simcoe Express U15 AAA program. He is 6'0'', 168 lbs, and uncommitted.

The Storm's next selection in the draft was Felix Trudeau. Tri-City used the 222nd overall pick in the 15th Round of the Phase II Draft to draft Trudeau. Trudeau, 18, Forward, of Terrebonne, Quebec skated in nine games during the 2020-2021 season with the Amherst Ramblers (MJAHL). He scored five goals and recorded four points for nine total points. He also skated in five postseason games with the team. He scored four playoff goals and recorded three postseason assists. Trudeau previously played for Northwood School in Lake Placid, New York. He is 6'1'', 176 lbs and committed to the University of Maine.

Tri-City's fourth defenseman selected in the Phase II Draft was Nathan Mossey. The Storm selected Mossey with the 237th overall pick in the 16th Round. Mossey, 16, Defenseman, of Charlottetown, Prince Edwards Island, skated in thirty games during the 2019-2020 season with the Central Attack Bantam AAA (PEIBAAA). He scored fifty goals and recorded thirty-five assists for fifty total points. Mossey also netted two postseason goals during the 2020 playoffs. He is 5'11'', 150 lbs and uncommitted.

The final forward taken by Tri-City in the 2021 USHL Draft was Justin Cloutier. The Storm selected Cloutier with the 252nd overall pick in the 17th Round. Cloutier, 16, Forward, of Ottawa, Ontario skated in twenty-nine games during the 2019-2020 season for the Ottawa Jr. 67s U15 AAA program. He scored twenty-three goals and recorded thirty-one assists for fifty-four total points. He also scored two postseason goals in four playoff games. Cloutier is 5'8'', 165 lbs, and uncommitted.

The last player selected by the Storm in this year's draft was defenseman Ryan Mast. Mast was selected 267th overall in the 18th Round. Mast, 18, Defenseman, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan skated in fifty-eight games during the 2019-2020 season with the Sarnia Sting (OHL). He scored one goal and provided the Sting offense with ten assists for eleven total points. Mast previously played for the Compuware and Belle Tire AAA organizations. He is 6'4'', 190 lbs, and uncommitted.
