Guelph Storm News Release
Game Four and Five Summary
Game Four against the Rangers took place on Thursday in the Sleeman Center in front of a sold out crowd. Hoping that this sold our crowd would energize them into their second win of the series the Storm came out with blazing intensity and a desire to finally solve the puzzle which was John Gibson.
The Storm would battle hard and despite out shooting the Rangers, would go down 1-0 at the end of the first. The second period saw both teams have ample opportunities to change the tone of the game but both goaltenders stood on their heads and kept the puck out of the net. In the third, Joshua Leivo would score his first of the series at the ten minute mark on the powerplay. Guelph would respond two minutes later when Zac Mitchell would fire one home on the power play. Ultimately the Storm were unable break Gibson and the Storm would lose the game 2-1 and go down 3-1 in the series.
Game five in Kitchener would be a hard fought battle as well, as the Guelph Storm seemed to be playing the same period of hockey over and over again in this series. Which consisted of parading the Rangers net with shots, running into penalty trouble and coming close but never coming back from a deficit. The Storm would go down 3-0 at the end of the second. The third period saw the team battle back to score of 3-2 but unable to score the tieing goal and the Storm would lose the game 4-2 when Joshua Leivo scored an empty net goal and the Storm would be beat out of the playoffs on Friday night with the series ending 4-1 for the Rangers.

OHL Priority Draft this Saturday
The 2013 OHL Priority Selection will be conducted online on Saturday, April 6th. With the 12th choice of the draft, Guelph Storm GM and Vice President Mike Kelly along with his scouting staff will look to add a weapon to an already strong nucleus in Guelph for the 2013-14 season.
GuelphStorm.com looks back at OHL Priority Selections in team history including several that were headed by Kelly during his last tenure with the Storm.
2008 OHL PRIORITY SELECTION
Measuring the 2008 draft by games played, the draft was a successful one with seven players combining to play 1,038 OHL games. Leading the way in career games, goals, points and penalty minutes was first round pick Cody McNaughton.
Interestingly, four players picked by Dave Barr in his final OHL draft chose the NCAA route, with three of them leaving college early to pursue other hockey options. Kevin Lough, who just completed his first season at Colgate could be the only player to stick with the NCAA after Kyle Palmieri, Joel Vienneau and Carlos Amestoy each left.
Two players from the draft started and finished their OHL careers in a Storm uniform including the aforementioned McNaughton and David Searle. A native of Peterborough, Searle played parts of three seasons in Guelph but had difficulties adjusting to life away from home and made the decision to move on from the OHL.
As of 2012/13 only Palmieri has seen NHL duty.
Below are the Guelph Storm's 2008 OHL Priority Selections picks. The combined Guelph Storm and CHL totals for the 14 players selected that day are at the bottom of the table.
