Guelph Storm News Release

Game One, Two and Three Wrap Up

The Guelph Storm reignited the Highway 7 rivalry on Friday, when the Storm faced off in the Western Conference quarter final against the Kitchener Rangers. With no love lost between these two teams, it was easy to see that the first two games in Kitchener would be a bitter battle to the closing seconds.

Game one on Friday saw the Storm run full steam into never ending trip to the penalty box, despite coming out strong in the first part of the game, Kitchener would lay an assault on Sparks during the Storm penalty troubles which would lead to four power play goals and Guelph losing the first game of the series 5-2

Game two on Sunday was action packed as the Storm tried to avenge the 5-2 loss suffered on Friday. Keeping out the penalty box for the majority of the game the Storm gave the Rangers a run for their money but ultimately saw John Gibson foil their attempts to even up the series as the Rangers took game two by a score of 2-0 giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead in the series.

Game three on Tuesday was fast paced and exciting as the Storm looked to climb their way back into the series. Guelph stayed out of the penalty box and battled hard for the first two periods but saw the Rangers go up 2-0 at the end of the second period. In the last six minutes of the game, Pedan rallied the Storm by firing home two goals in four minutes and Kosmachuk battled hard for the game winner bringing the final score to 3-2 for the Storm.
