Guelph Storm News Release

In the final week of the regular season the Storm took on Kitchener at the Sleeman Center and then had a home and home series with Conor McDavid and the Erie Otters.

The game against Kitchener on Wednesday March 13th was close and action packed with both teams fighting for the home ice advantage that would benefit their team in the western conference quarter finals. The Rangers would overcome the Storm 3-2 and the ever elusive home ice advantage would slip further out of the Storm's grasp.

The Storm took on the Erie Otter's next on Friday, where the Otter's would not go down without a fight. After a gruesome three periods of battling for the upper hand, the game would be decided in overtime when Cody McNaughton, the Storm's longest serving over-ager would slide in the game winner. Capping off a milestone night for the twenty year old.

Saturday night in Erie, the Storm wrapped up their regular season schedule with a 5-4 overtime loss versus the Erie Otters. The overtime loss gives Guelph 84 points for the year, tying 2005-06 for their highest point total since 2003-04 when they won the OHL Championship.

Friday night against the Otters, Kosmachuk scored the first goal of the night in the Storm's 2-1 overtime victory. Saturday in Erie, the Winnipeg Jets prospect picked up three points assisting on two and scoring one in the 5-4 loss.

Next up, the Storm kick off the 2012-13 OHL Playoffs with a first round battle against their biggest rivals, the Kitchener Rangers. The series kicks off in Kitchener this coming Friday and Sunday before the Storm host games three and four on Tuesday, March 26th and Thursday March, 28th. Tickets for both games are on sale now.

Be Part of Our Team!

Your Guelph Storm hosts game three of their first round series against the Kitchener Rangers on Tuesday, March 26th and we're looking for volunteers to be part of our 'grassroots' game marketing team!

Throughout the 12-13 season, you've probably seen the small Storm signs around the Royal City promoting our next home game. We've had a handful of fans express an interest in promoting the games in their neighbourhood, so now we're looking for more volunteers.

If you're interested in promoting next Tuesday's playoff game with a small (2 feet wide x 18 inches high) Storm sign on your lawn, fill out your street address and last name in the survey (link below).

Our Storm Community Dodge Caravan will quickly stop by every volunteer's home on Sunday, March 24th, or Monday, March 25th and post a sign on your front lawn. On Wednesday, March 27th, the Caravan will return and remove the sign. It's as easy as that!

Thanks for being part of your Storm for another exciting post-season.
