Downtown Ready for Hounds Playoff Hockey

Downtown Sault Ste. Marie is ready to cheer on the Hounds as they kick off the 2013 OHL playoffs tomorrow. Support for the Soo Greyhounds is strong, and Hound Power Pride came out in full force on Queen Street with more than twenty-five downtown businesses decking their windows in all things red and white.

A big thank-you to all of the downtown businesses who decorated their windows and showed their support for the team. Everything from hockey jerseys, memorabilia, to streamers balloons and stickers to professional and homemade signs, the Queen Street community got creative to show off their red and white spirit. In the end it was the motivational quotes that got the most votes and won the contest.

The top three winners of the Hound Power Downtowner Contest are

2. Ministry of Children and Youth Services / Youth Justice Services

3. Ideal Concepts in Gift Giving

"It's fun to be a fan. The contest was a great way to show our support and thank the Greyhounds for bringing 4000+ people downtown each game night," said Tasha Varpio, Downtown Association manager. "It's terrific to see how community pride brings people together."

"The response was remarkable. Everyone within our organization, including parents & players, are so appreciative of the support. It lights a fire underneath everyone to see the support this community gives the club" commented Gerry Liscumb Jr., Director of Public Relations & Communications for the Hounds.
