Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA, Neb. - A raucous 7,848 fans flocked to Werner Park on Sunday and watched the Omaha Storm Chasers defeat the Nashville Sounds, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon. Jake Odorizzi picked up his tenth win on the season after holding the Sounds to one run over four hits in 7.0 innings of work. David Lough, Rey Navarro and Irving Falu all contributed with solo home runs in Sunday's win.
Omaha (77-52) opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second as Lough connected on the first pitch of his at-bat for a solo shot. Things remained quiet at 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth when the Storm Chasers added two runs. The two tallies came on solo round-trippers by Navarro and Falu.
The Sounds (59-70) responded by carving out their lone run of the ballgame in the top of the sixth on an RBI ground out by Caleb Gindl.
Omaha would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh as Navarro walked to start the frame and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Cody Clark. The next batter, Falu, worked a walk while Mitch Maier then loaded the bases with his single. Anthony Seratelli singled to advance the runners a base and bring Navarro in to score. After a pitching change, Wil Myers hit an infield single that deflected off of the pitcher's glove and towards the second baseman, to plate Falu and advance the other runners a base. Clint Robinson ended the inning when he grounded into a double play.
Tommy Hottovy worked a scoreless eighth inning while Juan Gutierrez threw a perfect ninth to preserve the 5-1 Storm Chasers' victory.
