Reno Aces News Release

TACOMA, Wash.-The Aces scratched across a run in the first and led for most of the afternoon, but three Tacoma home runs Sunday afternoon lifted the Rainiers to a 4-3 victory over Reno at Cheney Stadium.

Adam Eaton walked and came around to score on a sacrifice fly in the first inning Sunday, giving the Aces a quick 1-0 lead. Reno wouldn't collect its first hit until the sixth, but the club held on to a 2-0 lead through 5-and-a-half innings. In the sixth, though, Tacoma came alive. The Rainiers scored their first run in the sixth, tied the score in the seventh and then took the lead in the eighth on a two-run home run off the bat of Alex Liddi. Reno pushed-across a run in the ninth, but it would get no closer.

Aces starter Daniel Cabrera took a no decision in his first start for Reno this season, scattering just a run on five hits over six innings of work. Out of the Aces bullpen, Matt Gorgen surrendered a home run in the seventh, and Jensen Lewis (4-2) allowed Liddi's go-ahead homer in the eighth.

Bobby LaFromboise (5-2) earned the win out of the Tacoma bullpen, working a scoreless eighth. Danny Farquhar picked-up his third save.

The Aces were held to just four hits on Sunday, after registering just one in the series opener Saturday. Mike Jacobs, Cole Gillespie and Konrad Schmidt accounted for Reno's three runs batted in. Adam Eaton stole his 37th base-most in the Pacific Coast League and a Diamondbacks franchise record.

The series continues on Monday night at Cheney Stadium. RHP Charles Brewer (9-7, 6.14 ERA) toes the slab for Reno, while Tacoma turns to RHP Erasmo Ramirez (4-3, 4.05 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and the action can be listened to live on Fox Sports 630 AM or by visiting RenoAces.com.

The Aces return home on Wednesday, Aug. 22 to kick-off a five-game set against the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
