Stoneburner Delivers Walk-Off Hit for Frisco

Tied at six heading into the bottom of the ninth, Davis Stoneburner delivered the game-winning hit to give the RoughRiders a 7-6 victory Thursday night from Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Following a hit-by-pitch, throwing error, and wild pitch by Cardinals reliever Chase Reid, Springfield loaded the bases with intentional walks to Mike Bianucci andJose Ruiz. That gave the game-winning opportunity to Stoneburner who turned on the second pitch he saw.

Springfield's pinch-hitter Eric Duncan smacked a two-out, two-run homer to right center field in the top of the eighth to complete a three run rally that gave the Cards the lead for the first time in the game.

After falling behind 6-5, Frisco responded in the bottom of the eighth on a two-out RBI single by Guilder Rodriguez that scored Stoneburner to even the score at six.

Ben Snyder made his second start this season and pitched five innings allowing three runs on seven hits in a no decision. In two separate innings, Snyder worked around a pair of runners, before allowing a three-run fifth inning.

Bianucci led the second inning off with a blast to left field to give the 'Riders an early 1-0 lead. The home run was his 17th of the season. Frisco tacked on three more runs in the inning off featuring a two-run double by Leonys Martin.

Tanner Scheppers struggled in his two-thirds of an inning for the RoughRiders as he allowed three earned runs, including the go-ahead pinch-hit home run off the bat of Duncan in the eighth inning. Following Scheppers, Fabio Castillo retired all four batters he faced and earned the win.

Game two of this three-game series with Springfield is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday from Dr Pepper Ballpark. . Righty Carlos Pimentel will kick and toss for Frisco and be opposed by the Cardinals' No. 1 prospect Shelby Miller.
