October 6, 2021 - Texas League (TL)
Amarillo Sod Poodles News Release
AMARILLO, Texas - Sod Poodles outfielder Stone Garrett was named to the 2021 Double-A Central All-Star Team the league announced earlier today.
The Houston-area native played 103 games with Double-A Amarillo during his first season in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. Garrett led the league with 81 RBI and finished fourth with 25 home runs. He led the league with 210 total bases and finished top-five in the league with 114 hits and a slugging percentage of .516. His 45 extra base hits were sixth most in the Double-A Central and just three off the lead held by fellow All-Star honorees Michael Busch (Tulsa) and Bubba Thompson (Frisco).
The outfielder made 54 starts in left field for Amarillo and another 10 in right field. He had five outfield assists to go along with his power bat.
Garrett put together a career year, topping his previous single-season career-highs for hits, home runs, runs scored, RBI, AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS. This marks his fourth All-Star selection after earning 2015 New York Penn League Mid-Season All-Star honors, 2015 Baseball America Short-Season All-Star Team, along with being named a MiLB.com Organizational All-Star for the Marlins that same year with the Batavia Muckdogs.
He was promoted during the tail end of the Triple-A Final Stretch and appeared in just two games with Triple-A Reno after September 26. He drew one walk in his six plate appearances at his highest level of professional baseball reached thus far.
Garrett was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks as a free agent on March 19, 2021. He spent his first six professional seasons in the Miami Marlins organization after being selected by the team in the eighth round of the 2014 MLB draft out of George Ranch High School in Richmond, Texas.
