Amarillo Dillas News Release
Amarillo, TX 7/29/09 - Stomp left his spot in âThe Jungle' earlier today to help the volunteers at the High Plains Food Bank.
While having fun with employees and volunteers, Stomp helped transfer crates of food to pallets that would be dispensed to local food distributors.
"We're delighted to have Stomp stop by the food bank and help out," commented Gorillas General Manager Robert Simmons. "Our Gorillas family is committed to helping the Panhandle community any way we can."
Stomp's next appearance will be at the Northwest branch library in Amarillo Thursday, August 6th from 11am-12pm.
Stomp made his way to Amarillo in early 2002, where he will turn eight on October 17th, 2009. After having a local hockey team named after him during October of 2002, Stomp has become a local celebrity. He is mobbed by admirers in grocery stores, parades, and even motorcycle rallies!
Since taking over duties as the mascot of the Gorillas, Stomp has been named mascot of the year seven times by the Central Hockey League. Stomp is available for any occasion, including birthday parties and special events. Contact the Gorillas front office at 806-242-PUCK (7825) for more information.
