Amarillo, Texas--- Brian Henschel earned his league leading fifth complete game of the year, his third in consecutive outings including two shutouts, delivering the San Angelo Colts (33-13) a 3-0 victory over the Amarillo Dillas (24-22).Because of the doubleheader, it was a seven inning contest. game two was called due to lightning and rain.
Runs were nonexistent in this ballgame through six innings as starters Taylor Allen and Brian Henschel collected putout after putout.
The game was scoreless as the Colts came to bat in the seventh inning. The frame began with an error by third baseman Andrew Wong allowing Jason Landreth to reach base. Josh Collazo connected with his second single of the game landing runners at first and second base. Nick Mahin then connected on a triple to right center field scoring Landreth and Collazo, giving the Colts a 2-0 lead. With two away, Mahin raced home on a wild pitch pushing San Angelo's lead to three.
Henschel took the mound in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Dillas managed to load the bases but were unable to come up with the offense to get back in the game as Henschel preserved the shutout and the Colts earned their 33rd win of the season. San Angelo now owns a two games to none lead in the four game series.
Henschel (6-3) accepted the win going seven innings scattering seven hits without allowing a run. Taylor Allen (3-3) went 6.1 innings allowing just three hits and one earned run.
