THE SAN JOSE GIANTS... return home this evening to begin a three-game series against the Stockton Ports at Municipal Stadium. The Giants earned a 6-5 victory over the host Lancaster JetHawks last night to complete a sweep of the three-game series. Drew Biery and James Simmons each blasted home runs while starting pitcher Justin Fitzgerald picked-up the win. Fitzgerald worked the first six innings and allowed four runs (all earned) on seven hits. Reliever David Quinowski stranded the potential tying run at third base in the seventh and eighth innings before Jason Stoffel tossed a scoreless ninth to record the save. Biery, Simmons, Ehire Adrianza, Jose Flores and Wendell Fairley contributed two hits apiece to lead the offensive attack.

Media Coverage... The entire series can be heard live on www.sjgiants.com with Joe Ritzo calling all of the action. All 140 games this season will be aired on the club's official website.

Road Trip Report... The Giants posted a 5-1 record on their recently completed road trip, taking two out of three from the High Desert Mavericks before earning a three-game sweep of the Lancaster JetHawks - their first series sweep of the second half. The Giants hit .336 as a team and averaged 6.3 runs per game on the trip. San Jose's bullpen also excelled combining for a 1.98 ERA (6 ER/27.1 IP).

San Jose Looks To Extend Win Streak... The Giants have won three games in a row for the first time in the second half. The last time San Jose won four in a row was from June 11-17 when they earned six consecutive victories.

Culberson Leads Offensive Attack ... Second baseman Charlie Culberson is batting .455 (15-for-33) with three home runs and 10 RBI's over his last eight games. The former supplemental first round draft pick is leading the Giants in batting average (.328), home runs (14), RBI's (61), hits (117) and slugging percentage (.541). He's tied for ninth in the league in batting average, fourth in hits and tied for fifth in doubles (26).

Rare North Division Opponent... The Giants are in the midst of a stretch (July 10-August 1) when they'll play 18 out of 21 games against teams from the South Division. The current series against Stockton are their only games versus a North Division team during this stretch. Only three of the first 13 games versus the Ports this season have been played in San Jose (April 26-28). The Giants are 7-6 against Stockton, including a 1-2 mark at Municipal Stadium.

Peguero Nears Triples Record... Outfielder Francisco Peguero hit his league-leading 11th triple last Thursday tying him for second on the Giants single-season list. Peguero is now tied with Fred Lewis (2004), Arturo McDowell (2001) and Mike Caruso (1997). Clay Timpner holds the team record when he finished with 12 triples during the 2005 season. Peguero is batting .385 (30-for-78) over his last 19 games.

The Giants finished the first half with a 45-25 mark - eight games ahead of both the Modesto Nuts (37-33) and Visalia Rawhide (37-33). By virtue of winning the first half, San Jose secures a berth in the playoffs and will receive a first round bye. The Giants have won three league championships (2005, 2007, 2009) in the last five seasons and will be attempting to win back-to-back titles for the first time in franchise history this September. San Jose will open the playoffs on Saturday, September 11 at Municipal Stadium with Game One of the best-of-five North Division Series. The previous league record for consecutive first half division titles was three (Visalia).
