
Late JetHawks Rally Falls Short in 5-2 Loss

(VISALIA, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks have been playing well on the road in the second half, but their bid to win a fifth straight game away from the Hangar came up short Tuesday night in Visalia. Playing their first game of the season at Recreation Park, the JetHawks didn't get their first runner on base until the fourth inning and didn't score their first run until the eighth as the fell against the Rawhide 5-2.
After a series of strong starts, Lancaster pitcher Patrick Urckfitz struggled Tuesday night. He allowed two runs in the first and second innings. Former JetHawk Josh Ford homered in the third to put Visalia up 5-0. Ashton Mowdy came into the game and matched career high's with four innings and five strikeouts while not allowing a run to give the JetHawks a chance to battle back.
It didn't happen until late. The first Lancaster hit came in the fourth inning when Jay Austin doubled. The runs came in the eighth. With one out Federico Hernandez, David Flores, and Brandon Wikoff each doubled to score two. Andy Simunic singled to put runners at the corners. However, the JetHawks were unable to get the big hit that would tie the game.
The JetHawks will continue their road-trip Wednesday night in Visalia. Leandro Cespedes (1-3) will pitch for the JetHawks against Ryan Cook (4-4) of the Rawhide. The game begins at 7:05.
