THIS MORNING

Stockton heads to the SAP Center for the third time this season and the fifth meeting between the NorCal rivals. The Heat are 1-3 against San Jose this year and have a tall task ahead of them in the 11:00 AM matchup with the top team, based on percentage points, in the Western Conference. The Heat are 6-3 since last facing the Barracuda back on November 5th. Today's game marks the last time the Heat play away from Stockton Arena until Friday, December 21 in Iowa.

WHO TO WATCH

Rob Hamilton's start to his Heat career a few weeks ago kicked off in style with his game-winning goal in Colorado on the same day that he signed a PTO. Since then he has been nothing short of remarkable. He has seven points in seven games and is tied for the team in plus/minus at +6. Hamilton has been relied upon in the 5-on-5 as a shut down defenseman as well as a puck mover on the man-advantage. Hamilton has played with Adam Ollas Mattsson in the last two games since Oliver Kylington was called up to the Calgary Flames.

RED HOT LAZAR

Curtis Lazar is arguably the team MVP through 20 games. He is red hot right now with nine points in his last six games, including five goals. Lazar is fresh off a three-assist game on Sunday. He now leads the team in points with 17 and is tied for the most multi-point games on the team with five. His reliable 200-foot game makes him an essential part to the penalty kill and crucial defensive zone draws. Since moving Buddy Robinson and Morgan Klimchuk to his line, Lazar has been a force down low below the dots and his found his scoring touch in a variety of different ways.

MILESTONES FOR MANGIAPANE, KLIMCHUK

Andrew Mangiapane and Morgan Klimchuk each scored goals in Sunday's loss to San Diego. Both have now reached the 100 point marker with the Stockton Heat. They become the first two players in the team's history to reach the 100 point plateau. Klimchuk now has 44 goals and 56 assists in 199 games for the Heat. Mangiapane has 47 goals and 53 assists in just 117 games as a member of the Heat.

KEEPING IT CLOSE

Stockton's success this year has come in tight contests. The club boasts an impressive 6-1-1 record in one goal games this season. Conversely, Stockton is just 2-7 in games separated by three goals or more. In close games Stockton continues to find their offense in the third period. Goaltending has not been a team strength during most of the season, but they continue to get good goaltending in the third period, particularly when the game is tight.

INTERESTING FACT

Stockton is leading the Pacific Division in goals scored with 70. Their ability to put the puck in the back of the net has been on full display, netting 31 goals in the last seven games.
