Saint Louis FC News Release
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Saint Louis FC announced the acquisition of forward Michael Cox from Nashville SC in exchange for an international roster spot, pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.
Cox was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and turned professional as a 17-year-old for FC Edmonton where he made 51 appearances and scored nine goals during the 2010-2013 seasons. He then moved to Finland to play for Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) in 2014 where he made 11 appearances and scored two goals before returning to Canada to play for York University where he led the team to a CIS Championship with 16 goals in 16 appearances in 2015. Cox signed with Orlando City B at the start of 2016 and he would make 45 appearances with 13 goals over the course of two seasons before signing with Nashville SC at the start of the 2018 USL season.
"I'm delighted to have signed Michael, a forward who is really powerful, quick and strong with a good goal-scoring record at this level," said STLFC Head Coach Anthony Pulis. "He gives us some much-needed firepower in an area where we are light at the moment with injuries so we are excited for him to join the group."
"I'm excited to join the club and I'm happy to be here," said Cox. "I'm hopeful to be another attacking threat, even though there are a few here already, and look forward to contributing right away."
