STINGRAYS WEEKLY REPORT - FEBRUARY 20
After four wins during a five-game homestand, the South Carolina Stingrays hit the road this week, beginning a six-game western trip to play the Rapid City Rush and the Colorado Eagles. The Stingrays took down Atlanta on Tuesday by a score of 4-2 before sweeping the Manchester Monarchs with 5-2 and 5-3 wins on Friday and Saturday. Although the week finished with a 5-2 loss to Adirondack on Sunday, the Stingrays have moved into a three-way tie for second place in the ECHL's South Division with Greenville and Orlando. Each team has secured 61 points in the standings and will continue to battle for playoff positioning with just 19 games remaining in the regular season.
Three games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday against the Rush will be the first ever meetings between the two franchises. Friday and Saturday's games will begin at 9:05 p.m. EST, while Sunday's contest is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.

TUESDAY: SOUTH CAROLINA STINGRAYS 4, ATLANTA GLADIATORS 2 (North Charleston Coliseum - North Charleston, SC)
The South Carolina Stingrays were down 2-0 after the first period but stormed back with four straight goals to overtake the Atlanta Gladiators by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. The first ECHL goal of Alex Brooks' career turned out to be the game-winner in the third period for South Carolina, while Domenic Monardo scored for the fourth consecutive game and extended his point streak to seven contests.
FRIDAY: SOUTH CAROLINA STINGRAYS 5, MANCHESTER MONARCHS 2 (North Charleston Coliseum - North Charleston, SC)
Rob Flick had four points Friday night, scoring the first hat trick of the season for the South Carolina Stingrays in a 5-2 defeat of the Manchester Monarchs at the North Charleston Coliseum. Colton Saucerman also factored into the scoring with three assists, while both Domenic Monardo and Steve Weinstein had two helpers for the Stingrays. Goaltender Joe Cannata made 27 saves to pick up his second win in as many starts for South Carolina.
SATURDAY: SOUTH CAROLINA STINGRAYS 5, MANCHESTER MONARCHS 3 (North Charleston Coliseum - North Charleston, SC)
The South Carolina Stingrays used a hot start to get out ahead of the Manchester Monarchs and secure a 5-3 victory Saturday in front of a crowd of 8,106 fans on Pack The House Night at the North Charleston Coliseum. John Parker scored 16 seconds in and added another tally in the second period, while Marcus Perrier had a goal and two assists, and both Rob Flick and Domenic Monardo each had a goal and an assist.
SUNDAY: ADIRONDACK THUNDER 5, SOUTH CAROLINA STINGRAYS 2 (North Charleston Coliseum - North Charleston, SC)
The Adirondack Thunder got ahead of the South Carolina Stingrays early on and held the advantage for a 5-2 victory at the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. The Rays got goals from Andrew Cherniwchan and Scott Tanski in the loss, while Domenic Monardo picked up an assist to extend his season-high point streak to 10 games.

MONARDO OFFICIALLY RED HOT Forward Domenic Monardo has been the hottest Stingrays' forward and is currently riding a 10-game point streak with 17 points on six goals and 11 assists during the span. During the streak, which started on Feb. 3 in Manchester, Monardo has had five multi-point games. The Oakville, Ont. native now has 29 points (nine goals, 20 assists) in 37 games with South Carolina this year and has moved up to second in scoring among active Stingrays players.
FLICK CATCHES FIRE Rob Flick took it upon himself to erase an early deficit to Manchester Friday night, scoring once in each period to record the first hat trick of the season for a Stingrays skater. Flick also had an assist on a goal by Scott Tanski and engaged in some physical play by dropping the gloves for a fight late in the first period. He finished the contest with 11 penalty minutes. The forward leads the team in both goals (24) and points (48) through 50 games this year. In addition, Flick had a streak of 13 consecutive home games with a point snapped on Sunday, which dated back to Dec. 10. The stretch is tied for the longest in the league this season.
PERRIER PRODUCING OFFENSIVELY Marcus Perrier thrived offensively during the home stand for South Carolina, scoring points in all five contests during the last eight days. Perrier had goals in back-to-back games against Manchester during wins on Friday and Saturday. The forward also added two assists in Saturday night's 5-3 triumph and picked up another helper on Sunday. Perrier now has 19 points on the season (seven goals, 12 assists) through 52 games. The versatile skater has played both forward and defense this season for the Rays.
TOP-NOTCH PENALTY KILLING Recently the Stingrays penalty kill has been among the best in the ECHL and the team is now the top killing rate in the league at 86.0% after holding Manchester to an 0-for-8 mark in the two-game series before stopping Adirondack in three man-advantage opportunities. South Carolina has not allowed a power play goal in 10 of their last 11 games.
