Monarchs Announce Roster Moves

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Kevin Morris and Cory Ward have been loaned to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL).

The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.

Morris, 24, heads to the Crunch after playing 48 games with the Monarchs this season, and scoring 25 points on 12 goals and 13 assists. Morris added 72 penalty minutes, a +8 rating and tied for the Monarchs lead with four game-winning-goals.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound native of Massena, N.Y., signed with the Monarchs after a four-year career at the Miami University (OH) where he scored 48 points on 22 goals and 26 assists in 153 games. After playing six games with the Monarchs in the 2015-16 season, Morris was loaned to the Binghamton Senators (AHL) where he played two games.

Ward, 23, leaves the Monarchs after scoring 29 points on 13 goals and 16 assists during his rookie campaign. Ward earned 14 penalty minutes and a +12 rating in 50 games during his first full professional season.

The 5-foot-11, 201-pound native of Las Vegas, N.V., played collegiately at Bemidji State University for four seasons, and scored 80 points on 45 goals and 35 assists in 151 games. After his senior season completed, Ward signed with the St. John's IceCaps (AHL), and scored three points on three assists in eight games.

The Monarchs return to SNHU Arena on Friday, Feb. 24 (7 p.m.), when they host the Brampton Beast for the first time this season in a critical North Division matchup.
