LAST WEEK'S RESULTS:

Florida improved to 5-0 in overtime or shootout situations.
December 19: Florida at South Carolina, 4-1 Loss
Ethan Werek had a goal and an assist to lead the Florida Everblades to a 4-1 victory over the South Carolina Stingrays last Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Florida took both games in South Carolina this weekend to extend their lead over the Stingrays in the South Division to nine points.
OFFICE CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The South Carolina Stingrays Business Offices are closed this week, December 21-25, so players, coaches and staff may celebrate the holiday season with family and friends. Online orders will be filled when the office reopens on December 26. Tickets are always available via Ticketmaster online or at the North Charleston Coliseum Box Office.
MONSTER STINGRAYS
A pair of Stingrays were called-up to the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) this past week. Forward Derek DeBlois was loaned to Lake Erie for the third time this season on Saturday, while forward Joe Devin joined him with the Monsters on Sunday. DeBlois has played in 12 games with the Monsters, scoring two goals, while Devin made his Lake Erie debut on Sunday in Charlotte.
MR. JONES AND ME
Defenseman Nick Jones has goals in two in his last three games. The Cranberry Township, PA native has registered nine points (three goals, six assists) on the season. He scored seven goals last year as a member of the Indy Fuel.
DYNAMITE DEFENSE
While the offense looks to find it's stride for the Stingrays, the club's defense and goaltenders have been sensational this season. The Stingrays are allowing the third fewest goals per game this season at just 2.14 per game. The Stingrays are allowing a league-low 25.21 shots per game. All three Stingrays goalies, Branden Komm (1.76), Vitek Vanecek (2.00) and Mark Dekanich (2.14) have among the top goals against averages in the league.
VANECEK AT WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
South Carolina goaltender Vitek Vanecek is away from the team as he has been selected to participate for the Czech Republic's World Junior Championship team. Vanecek was strong in a pre-tournament exhibition, stopping 21 of 22 shots in a 1-0 loss to Canada on Sunday. The tournament runs from December 26-January 5 in Helsinki, Finland.
