Quad City Mallards News Release
QUACK TRACKS
Busy
The Mallards went 1-2-0 while playing three games in 48 hours over the weekend.
Upswing
The Mallards have won seven of their last ten games and have gone 10-5-0 in their last 15 games after going 5-5-3 in their first 13 outings.
First
The Mallards lead the Cincinnati Cyclones by three points in the race for first place in the ECHL's Midwest Division. The second place Cyclones have three games in hand on the Mallards.
Undermanned
Due to injuries, call-ups and a suspension, the Mallards dressed fewer than the allowed 16 skaters for each of their three games over the weekend. They had 15 skaters in uniform Friday and Saturday and just 14 yesterday.
Home Sweet Home
Last Friday's loss to Wheeling ended the Mallards' eight-game home winning streak and 11-game home regulation unbeaten streak (10-0-1). The Mallards rebounded to defeat the Nailers on home ice one night later and are now tied for the league lead in home wins (11).
Sunday Fun Day?
The Mallards fell yesterday after winning their first five Sunday games of the season.
Shooting Gallery
The Mallards took a season high 40 shots in last Friday's loss to Wheeling.
Sin Bin
The Mallards (49) and Nailers (30) combined for 79 penalty minutes last Friday, a season high for a game involving the Mallards, eclipsing the previous high of 76 set in the Mallards' December 12 2-1 win in Rapid City.
Iron Mike
Mike Monfredo last Saturday missed a game for the first time in his career. Monfredo played 230 straight games over his four seasons with the Mallards before being suspended from last Saturday's contest after being assessed a game misconduct for instigating a fight with less than five minutes left in the third period of last Friday's loss to Wheeling.
Between the Pipes
Last Friday's loss to Wheeling ended Steve Michalek's six-game winning streak. Michalek ranks tenth in the ECHL in save percentage (.924). Brody Hoffman made a personal season high 39 saves in last Saturday's win over the Nailers.
Arch Madness
Olivier Archambault has collected four points (one goal and three assists) in two games since returning after missing three games with an upper body injury to take over the team lead in points (24).
Warning Signs
Rookie Sam Warning has scored four goals in his last five games and scored seven times in his last 12 games after going without a goal in his first 11 games.
Rook
Matt Neal has recorded four points (one goal and three assists) in his last four games and now leads the Mallards in goals (10) and plus/minus rating (+10), is tied for fourth among ECHL rookies in goals and is tied for sixth among rookies in points.
Blue Line
Monfredo is tied for fourth among defensemen in points (19) and assists (16). Guillaume Gelinas is tied for tenth among defensemen in points (17).
Special Teams
Though Alex Gudbranson scored on the power play yesterday to end the Mallards 0-for-20 man advantage drought, the Mallards have now converted just one of their last 25 power plays. The Mallards are tied for eleventh in the ECHL on the power play (19.0 percent). The Mallards have killed off 34 of their opponents' last 35 power plays and now rank third in the ECHL in penalty killing (87.0 percent).
Head to Head
The Mallards have gone 2-2-0 against the Fuel this season. The home team has won each of the first four games between the two clubs. The Mallards and Fuel will clash a total of ten times this year.
Milestones
Monfredo has 99 career points. While Saturday night's suspension ended Monfredo's streak of 230 consecutive games played, Monfredo (231) is closing in on eleventh place in team history in games played, a position currently occupied by Kerry Toporowski (236). Monfredo has also played 99 career ECHL games...Archambault has played 99 career games... Anthony Collins picked up a total of 17 minutes in penalties last Friday to top 300 career ECHL penalty minutes (309).
Ins and Outs
Guillaume Gelinas was recalled by the AHL's Iowa Wild yesterday...Zach Pochiro returned to the Mallards last Saturday from the AHL's Chicago Wolves after being reassigned to Chicago last Monday and making his AHL debut for the Wolves last Tuesday against Milwaukee...Olivier Archambault (upper body) returned to the Mallard lineup last Saturday after missing three games...Mike Monfredo was suspended from last Saturday's game after being assessed game misconduct Friday against Wheeling...Kyle Follmer (upper body) missed yesterday's game...Tanner Eberle (upper body) has missed the Mallards' last two games...Raphael Bussieres (lower body) and Kevin Gibson (upper body) have missed the Mallards' last five games...Kevin Henderson (upper body) has missed the Mallards' last ten games.

Stanley Cup
The Stanley Cup will come to the Quad Cities Saturday for a tour of the area culminating in the Mallards' game against the Indy Fuel. The cup will make a series of stops throughout the Quad Cities, appearing at R.I.A. Federal Credit Union and Harris Pizza in Bettendorf before arriving at the iWireless Center for the Mallards' game and finishing the evening at Bad Boyz' Pizza & Pub in Moline. Fans attending Saturday night's game will have their chance get up close and take photos with the cup on the main concourse beginning when iWireless Center doors open at 5:45 p.m. Photos with the cup will be available throughout the game.
Christmas Scratch Card Giveaway
The first 1,500 fans through the doors Saturday are sure to have their spirits lifted when they receive no-lose scratch cards, each and every one of which will reveal the recipient to be a prize winner.
Bad Gift Exchange
Fans attending Saturday's game will have the opportunity to take part in a "bad gift exchange". Fans who bring their worst still-packaged Christmas gift to that game can exchange those deeply disappointing presents for another fan's misfit gift or a voucher good for a ticket to a future game or a Mallards souvenir.
ON THE AIR
Fox Sports Radio 1230 is the radio home of Mallards Hockey Presented by Genesis Power Sports Performance. Mallards games broadcast on AM 1230 also stream live online at www.wfxn.net. A limited number of Mallards games- including the Mallards' game against the Fuel in Indianapolis Sunday- will not air on Fox Sports Radio 1230 due to conflicts with University of Illinois basketball and football and Green Bay Packer football. ECHL-TV pay-per-view video webcasts and free audio webcasts of all Mallards games are also available at myqcmallards.net.
MOBILE
The Mallards' official mobile app is now available free for both Apple and Android. Single Game Tickets
Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season contests are now available. Fans can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or info@myqcmallards.com for more information about tickets. Single game tickets are also available at the iWireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.
Frosty 4-Pack
The Mallards' Frosty-4 Pack has arrived just in time for the holidays. The package consists of four ticket vouchers good for any available seat for any December Mallards home game, a Mallards-autographed stick signed by the entire team and a puck autographed by a Mallards player- all for just $80. The Mallards' play their two remaining December home games Saturday, December 26 against Indy; and Wednesday, December 30 against Evansville.
