Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. - Quad City Mallards defenseman Austin Coldwell has been signed to a professional tryout agreement by the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild, the Mallards announced today.
Coldwell, 25, has scored three goals and notched five assists for eight points in 21 games with the Mallards this season. The 6' 0", 195-pound, Vancouver, Washington native broke into pro hockey with the Mallards at the end of last season. Coldwell scored twice and added five assists in a dozen games after joining the Mallards from the University of Alaska-Anchorage in March. He also picked up a pair of assists in seven playoff games.
Coldwell scored four goals and registered eight assists to total 12 points in 34 games with UAA in last year. He produced 14 goals, 36 assists and 50 points in 132 career games for the Seawolves and was named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team each of his last three collegiate seasons. In 2013-14 he helped UAA to the program's first winning season since the Seawolves entered the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in 1993.
Coldwell spent four years in the junior ranks before heading to Anchorage. He skated with the Bismarck Bobcats and Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League before joining United States Hockey League's Des Moines Buccaneers for a two year stint.
The Mallards next play at home Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Indy Fuel. The Mallards will welcome the Stanley Cup to Saturday's game. Fans will have the chance to view and take photos with hockey's ultimate prize throughout that contest. In addition, the first 1,500 fans through the doors Saturday are sure to have their holiday spirits lifted when they receive no-lose scratch cards, each and every one of which will reveal the recipient to be a prize winner. Fans attending Saturday's game will also have the opportunity to take part in a "bad gift exchange". Fans who bring their worst still-packaged Christmas gift to that game can exchange those deeply disappointing presents for another fan's misfit gift or a voucher good for a ticket to a future game or a Mallards souvenir.
Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season home games- including Saturday night's game- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $10, $16, $20 and $28.
