
Stingrays solidify defense with Kiser

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC-South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that defenseman Nate Kiser has signed a contract with the club for the upcoming season. The terms of the deal was not disclosed.
Kiser, entering his third season as a professional, is currently in training camp with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. Kiser played 58 games with the Stingrays a year ago scoring two goals and adding 11 assists, while compiling 173 minutes in penalties.
The native of Southgate, Michigan was a fifth round draft pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2000 draft. He began his professional career in 2003 with the Dayton Bombers. Kiser was an assistant captain with the Stingrays last season. He has had stints in the AHL with both Syracuse and Portland.
"Nate was a big part of our defense last season," explained Fitzsimmons. "He is a fierce competitor who leads by example. He is the type of player that coaches love to have on their team. Nate has size, skill and toughness, which is a great combination."
