Lynx hail King's return
September 20, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
Without a doubt one of Augusta's fan favorites last year, the Lynx have brought back punch on the wing by agreeing to terms with Colt King for the 2005-06 Season.
Coming to the Lynx in a trade last season with the Reading Royals, the 22-year-old King appeared in 67 games for the club, scoring 10 goals and 21 points along with 160 PIMs. Quickly establishing himself as a force on the ice, the 6-2, 220 lb. King helped give the team a solid physical presence and grit.
In the last 28 games of the 2004-05 Season King's offensive game came alive as he registered seven of his 10 goals and 18 points in that span. His highlight performance came on February 19th against the Pee Dee Pride, where scored two goals and four points while totaling 15 minutes in penalties in a 6-2 Lynx win.
As a result of his hard work, King was invited to Vancouver Canucks rookie camp this year, as well as training camp for the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League. Originally, the Thunder Bay, Ontario native was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in round 4, #130 overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
"In doing my research on last year's roster, Colt King was hands-down the most improved player on the ice from day one to the end of the season," said Lynx head coach and director of hockey operations Bob Ferguson. "With the experience gained from going to Canucks rookie camp and Manitoba Moose training camp, he will be a very important multi-dimensional player for the Lynx."
Augusta continues to build upon an already solid foundation with King, and now has a total of 15 players under wraps. Forwards King, Jake Riddle, Ryan Lang, Bryan Passmore, Doug Wright, Chris Chaput, Ryan Bennett, Jimmy Callahan, and Rich Hansen join defensemen Marty Lapointe, Phil Cole, Ken Scuderi, Shaun Fisher, Treavor Peterson, and Eric Lundberg on the list of 2005-06 training camp personnel.
