Stingrays Run Out Of Gas; Fall 3-2 To Nailers

North Charleston, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays (30-10-2-4) fell to the Wheeling Nailers (22-18-2-1) 3-2 at North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon. The loss snaps a five-game winning streak and marks the Stingrays' first loss against the North division after going 6-0-0.

The Nailers opened the scoring at 4:11 of the first period with a drive from Andrew Lord beating Stingrays goaltender Parker Van Buskirk low stick-side. Winger Colin Power and defenseman Mitch Ganzak earned assists on Lord's sixth goal of the season. The Stingrays responded seconds later as rookie Dan Prewitt lit the lamp at 4:47 tipping in a pass from forward Trevor Bruess over the glove of Nailers goaltender Michael-Lee Teslak. Forward Gregg Johnson recorded the second assist. The Nailers made it 2-1 with a shorthanded goal at 15:58 from forward Aaron Clarke. Center T.J. Fox recorded the lone assist. Stingrays forward Michael Dubuc tied the game at 17:16 from Johnson and defenseman Nate Kiser.

Nailers forward Blair Yaworski reclaimed a one-goal lead at 2:54 of the second period from Jordan Fox and defenseman Cliff Loya.Yaworski's tally proved to be the game-winning marker as the Stingrays fired six shots on Teslak in the final period, but could not find the twine. Teslack earned his 10 win of the season and first against the Stingrays stopping 17 of 19 Stingrays shots. Van Buskirk suffers his 10 loss of the campaign kicking away 24 of 27 Nailers chances. Both sides came up empty on the power play with the Stingrays finishing to contest 0-for-2 while the Nailers ended the night 0-for-3.
