
Trio Of Checkers Called Up

CHARLOTTE, NC-Charlotte Checkers general manager and head coach Derek Wilkinson announced that forwards Tyler Doig and Kenny Roche and defenseman Kevin Schaeffer have been loaned to the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack.
Doig, who is the only Checkers player to skate in all 40 games this season, leads the team in scoring and ranks fifth among all ECHL players with 48 points (11g, 37a).
The 23-year-old native of Seaforth, Ontario has prior AHL experience with the Toronto Marlies where he tallied four goals and four assists in 29 games. Doig represented the American Conference at the 2008 and 2009 ECHL All-Star Games.
Roche, 26, has 29 points in 34 games this season with the Checkers and his 16 goals rank second on the team. He has nine multi-point games and scored back-to-back game-winning goals in Florida on Dec. 11 and 12. The native of South Boston, Mass. played three games with Providence (AHL) this season registering one assist. In 38 career AHL games, he has two goals and six assists.
Schaeffer, 25, joins the Wolf Pack after playing in two stints with the Lake Erie Monsters. In seven games in Lake Erie, he has two assists. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenseman has notched one goal and six assists in 31 games with the Checkers this year.
He spent the majority of last season with the Providence Bruins of the AHL, and in 48 games, collected three assists and 14 penalty minutes. Schaeffer was a sixth round pick of the Nashville Predators in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and played four seasons at Boston University before joining the pro ranks.

Reynolds leads all ECHL defensemen with 168 penalty minutes, and is second in overall plus-minus with a +19 rating...Derek Couture, Kenny Roche and Tyler Doig are with Hartford (AHL) while Matt Ford, Randy Rowe and Kevin Schaeffer are with Lake Erie (AHL)...Trevor Glass, Chris Snavely and Chris Chappell are on the 21-day injured reserve.
