South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC - The Kelly Cup Champion South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced today that defenseman Dylan Yeo and forwards Jake Hauswirth and Michael Dubuc have been assigned to the team. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Yeo, 23, comes to the Stingrays after spending his first two professional seasons with Victoria. In 2008-2009, the Prince Albert, SASK native scored ten goals and 33 assists for 43 points with the Salmon Kings. Yeo was called up to the AHL's Manitoba Moose for 14 games scoring five points (1g, 4a). Before turning pro, the 5-foot-11, 210-pound Yeo skated for four seasons with the Calgary Hitmen and Prince George Cougars of the WHL.
"Dylan is a highly skilled offensive defenseman," said Stingrays Head Coach Cail MacLean. "He will be a great addition to our power play and a puck mover that can help minimize play in our own zone."
Hauswirth, 21, moves into his first season as a professional. The Merrill, Wisconsin native skated the last two seasons with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL and the 06-07 campaign with the Marquette Rangers of the NAHL. While with the Lancers, Hauswirth tallied 75 points (41g, 34a) in 115 games. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound forward is a member of the 2008 USHL Omaha championship team.
"Jake's size and skill give him a lot of potential as a forward in the ECHL and beyond," MacLean said. "We expect him to hit the ground running after a month of training camp with Washington and Hershey."
Dubuc, 21, returns to the Stingrays after scoring 35 goals and 23 assists for 58 points in 49 games for the club last year. The Granby, PQ native registered seven points (4g, 3a) in 12 playoff contests as South Carolina claimed their ECHL-record third Kelly Cup title. The left-winger appeared in three games last season with the Hershey Bears of the AHL.
"Michael brings top notch finishing ability to our lineup," said coach MacLean. "We expect him to continue his offensive prowess as he works to round out his game and move up the ladder."
