Reign Add Three To Roster

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings, announced today that they have signed winger Joel Irving, defenseman Mike Egener, and left wing James McEwan to standard player contracts for the upcoming 2009-2010 season.
Irving, 33, finished his eleventh professional season with the Arizona Sundogs in 2009. The winger from Lumsden, Saskatchewan led the Sundogs in goals and points last season, recording 35 goals and 34 assists for 69 points in 64 regular season games. Last season was Irving's second consecutive over 60-point season.
Egener, 25, will be beginning his sixth professional season with the Reign, after appearing in only six games with Swedish professional team IF Björklöven (HockeyAllsvenskan league). The defenseman, who hails from Lahr, Germany, was drafted #34 overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Egener made his professional hockey debut with the Springfield Falcons (AHL) in 2004 and also had stints with the Johnstown Chiefs and the now-defunct Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL.
McEwan, 22, finished his rookie year with the now-defunct Phoenix RoadRunners last season. In 59 games with the RoadRunners, the Kelowna, British Columbia native picked up three goals and four assists for seven points and spent a team-high 227 minutes in the bin.
