
Training Camp To Open Monday

CHARLOTTE, NC-The Charlotte Checkers have announced that training camp for the 2009-10 season will begin on Monday, Oct. 5 at Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail, N.C. It will continue through Oct. 15, highlighted by a home-and-home preseason series against the defending ECHL Champion South Carolina Stingrays.
The preseason home game will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Extreme Ice Center. Tickets are free for season ticket holders, $10 for the general public and can be purchased at the Extreme Ice Center front desk. In addition, tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com starting Oct. 6. Fans who purchase a mini-plan between now and Oct. 1 will also gain free entry to the game.
Training camp is open to the general public and all on-ice practices will take place at Extreme Ice Center. The schedule is as follows:
Monday, Oct. 5
9:30 a.m. - Team 1 practice
10:30 a.m. - Team 1 vs. Team 2
11:15 a.m. - Team 2 practice
Tuesday, Oct. 6
9:30 a.m. - Team 2 practice
10:30 a.m. - Team 1 vs. Team 2
11:15 a.m. - Team 1 practice
Wednesday, Oct. 7
9:30 a.m. - Team 1 practice
10:30 a.m. - Team 1 vs. Team 2
11:15 a.m. - Team 2 practice
Thursday, Oct. 8
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. - Practice
Friday, Oct. 9
10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. - Practice
7:00 p.m. - Preseason game at South Carolina (Carolina Ice Palace, North Charleston, SC)
Saturday, Oct. 10
1:30 p.m. - Preseason game vs. South Carolina

The preseason roster is available now on the Checkers' website. Fans are encouraged to check back later this week for the newly designed and fully-loaded gocheckers.com.
The Checkers' schedule is now available and they are getting ready for their 17th season of play as a member of the ECHL and 16th as an affiliate of the New York Rangers. In the team's 16-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 12 times including five consecutive playoff appearances to date. Season tickets are on sale now.
