South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays are pleased to announce that Team President Darren Abbott will be writing a blog on the Stingrays' website, www.stingrayshockey.com. The blog, entitled "Darren's Last Call," will be updated each and every Friday, starting immediately.

"I want to use this as a way to better communicate with our fans," said Abbott. "It is my hope that this blog can become a portal from the front office to our loyal fans."

"Darren's Last Call" will be a weekly affirmation from the head of the Stingrays' office directly to the fans. It will feature updates, clarifications, stories and general musings from the former "Voice of the Rays." The blog can be found on the Stingrays' website under the tab "Fan Zone." Be sure to stop by each Friday and hear "Darren's Last Call."

Abbott is in his third season as President of the Stingrays after being named to the position in April, 2006 after six seasons as the Director of Public Relations and Broadcasting. He first joined the Rays in 1996 but spent two seasons away from Charleston, when he served as Director of Public Relations and Broadcasting for the Roanoke Express from 1997-1999.

The Stingrays are home this weekend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night against the Mississippi Sea Wolves. Join us on Friday night for Military Night sponsored by Hampton Inn and Hampton Inn Suites. Saturday is Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night and Homeowner's Appreciation Night. Come out and see who will be the next inductee into the Stingrays Hall of Fame. Sunday, in addition to be the Stingrays Low Country Relief Day, is also Salute to Heroes Day brought to you by Exclusively Bimmers. With both pregame hockey between the Charleston Police Department and Columbia Fire Department and postgame hockey between the Charleston Fire Department and New York Fire Department, the Stingrays are raising money for the Equipping our Heroes Foundation, Fraternal Order of Police, and the Carolina Children's Charity. Friday and Saturday's games begin at 7:05 p.m., and Sunday's game starts at 5 p.m. Hope to see you there.
