
Royals Sign Forward Vince Rocco

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the organization has signed forward Vince Rocco ["ROCK oh"] to an Amateur Tryout agreement. In a separate transaction, forward Levi Nelson has been recalled to the Providence Bruins of the AHL. In a transaction previously completed, forward Ryan Gibbons was moved from the 7-Day Injured Reserve to the 30-Day Injured Reserve.
Rocco (5'10"/187) (21), who hails from Woodbridge, Ontario, recently completed his collegiate career at Niagara University, where he scored forty-six goals and assisted on seventy-four others (120 points) in 142 games over four seasons. Rocco, who served as the Purple Eagles' team captain for the past two seasons, was tied for the team lead with thirty-one points (12g-19a) in thirty-six games this season. Rocco, who was twice named to the All-College Hockey America team in his collegiate career, became the first player in Niagara University school history to be selected as the CHA Student Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of this season. Nelson, who was loaned to the Royals by the Bruins on February 24, 2009, scored two goals and picked up one assist (three points) and registered twenty-eight penalty minutes in eight games with the Royals.
The Royals take on the Trenton Devils tomorrow (Friday, March 20 @ 7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center in Reading. The first 2000 fans at Friday night's game will receive a players' trading card set courtesy of Rieck's Printing. Friday's game will be broadcast live on the Royals Radio Network Presented by Transmissions by Arbogast (True Oldies WRAW 1340 am in Reading; and The Ticket WLAN 1390 am in Lancaster), as well as on the internet via webcast hosted by Sportsjuice.com, which can be accessed through the Royals website.
