BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - C Dave Bonk scored twice to lead the Bakersfield Condors to a 4-1 win over the Utah Grizzlies in front of 4,084 fans at Rabobank Arena Wednesday night. Bakersfield improves to 14-4-1 in their last 19 games, and 8-2-1 in their last 11 home matches.

Condors (28-30-7, 63pts) jumped out to the 1-0 lead, scoring the only goal of the first frame. D Chris Kaufman notched his fourth of the season at 7:38, lighting the lamp for the third time in his last eight games. Picking up an assist on the tally was F Andrew Ianiero, extending his point streak to six games. Utah (25-24-16, 66pts) and Bakerfield combined for just 13 first period shots.

The second period saw more scoring opportunities and several power plays apiece. Utah goal-scoring leader RW Tim Verbeek tied it up at 3:32, knocking the puck out of midair and into the net for his 28th of the campaign. Later in the frame the Condors killed off a two-man advantage that lasted well over a minute, and then turned the tides on Utah to regain the lead. Bonk got his stick on a drive from the blueline from D Ryan Mahrle to get his 26th of the season with just under half minute to play in the stanza.

Bakersfield cemented the win in the third. C Bruce Graham notched his 21st of the season at 7:03 to give the Condors some insurance, and Bonk potted his second of the night with a power play marker in the waning seconds to account for the final score. Bakersfield surrendered just five third period shots in holding onto the lead.
