WILLMAR, Minn. - The Stingers have dominated the all-time series against Eau Claire since the teams first met in 2014, but Willmar had its seven-game winning streak against the Express halted on Friday night with a 14-4 loss at Bill Taunton Stadium.

For the second straight night Eau Claire hit a home run in the first inning, this time a two-run shot from Tyler Jones. But unlike Thursday night, the Express (3-1) would not surrender the lead to the Stingers (1-3).

Stingers starter Ricky Reynoso (Pacific) struggled with his control in his first start of the season, and lasted just 1 1/3 innings, yielding seven runs.

After a 30-minute lightning delay in the bottom of the first, the Express came out in the second inning and put up six more runs, which was more than enough to secure the win.

Despite the loss, Danny Pardo (Montevallo) and Quincy McAfee (Pepperdine) both had solid nights at the plate at the top of the Stingers' order. Pardo was a perfect 3-for-3, drew a pair of walks and drove in a run, while McAfee went 1-for-3 with two runs scores and two walks.

Theron Kay (Baylor) pitched the ninth inning in his first appearance of the season, and Jaymon Cervontes (St. John's River State) struck out four in four innings of relief.

The 2016 Stingers season is presented by Marcus Construction. For more coverage of the Stingers visit the West Central Tribune online at www.wctrib.com.
