Stingers Shut out Rox to Force Game 3

St. Cloud, Minn - The Willmar Stingers defeated the St. Cloud Rox 4-0 in Game 2 of the Great Plains West Sub-Divisional Playoff Series at Joe Faber Field.
It was a pitchers duel through the first five innings of action with neither team allowing any breathing room. Between Willmar's Brandon Mikos, and St. Cloud's Manning West, they only allowed a total of five hits over that span.
The Willmar offense broke the scoreless tie with four runs in the sixth inning. It all started with a David Estrada single to bring in Paris Pridgen. Merrick Rapoza followed that up with an RBI double to score Kyle Panganiban. Jehee Lee singled and Matthew Bernath hit a sacrifice fly to give the Stingers a 4-0 advantage.
Mikos finished a scoreless sixth inning to complete his night where he threw 96 pitches, allowed three hits, two walks, and struck out three. He was relieved by Drew Delucia.
The Stingers threatened to score in the seventh but a Kyle Panganiban fly ball to left was caught on the warning track and two runners were stranded on base. West was pulled after seven innings after allowing six hits, four runs(three earned), one walk, and sending down six on strikes. He was replaced Levi Nyberg who threw two scoreless innings in relief.
The Rox put two runners on base in the ninth but were unable to score. Delucia allowed only one hit and walked two in his three scoreless innings of work to complete the 4-0 Willmar victory in front a large group of Stingers fans who made the trip.
Mikos picked up the win and was named the Les Schwab Tires Player of the Game for his shutout performance. West was charged with the loss.
The series now moves to a winner-take-all Game 3 tomorrow night in St. Cloud. First pitch at Joe Faber Field is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
