Sarnia Sting News Release
Melody Matthews, daughter of Amber VanDenBerge, was born less than a month ago with Arthrogryposis, a condition that limits limb and joint movement. In an effort to raise funds for the family and generate awareness for the cause, the Sarnia Sting will be donating $2 from every ticket purchased (beginning Monday, September 8th) for the team's final pre-season game this Friday, September 12th against Windsor. In addition, raffle proceeds for an authentic, game-worn, Nail Yakupov jersey will benefit the cause. Puck drop is 7:05 and tickets can be purchased by visiting the Box Office or calling (519) 541-1717.
Grandmother, Patty Matthews speaks to the family's current situation. "She needs casting every week in London and undergoes vigorous stretches as her knees are dislocated this is a very painful time for Melody. Our goal is to raise funds for a newer vehicle to transport Melody to and from London as well as any equipment she will need in her future that may help her gain mobility and live a comfortable happy life."
Sarnia Sting President, Bill Abercrombie comments on this impromptu event. "As an organization, we sat down earlier today to discuss the situation and come up with a way that we could help Melody and her family. It's important for us to be outgoing in our support initiatives and do everything in our power to be a role model in the community. We encourage everyone to join us on Friday night to support the Little Miss Melody cause."
"Thank-you Sarnia Sting for helping us get the word out on Arthrogryposis and for your LOVE and support. The Sarnia Sting are dedicating a portion of ticket revenue for Friday's game against Windsor towards Melody...How spectacular! Please come join us Friday to support the Sarnia Sting and our Little Miss Melody. " - Patty Matthews
