Plymouth Whalers News Release
Social media and online interaction in sports continues to grow in sophistication as media and players mature every year.
Much like the annual re-launch of Madden, EA Sports NHL series has its own group of hard-core fans. Over the past few seasons, the Plymouth Whalers have helped in the re-launch of the each generation of the EA Sports NHL series in September, partnering up with Ted Dallaire of Destiny Games in Canton.
Fans can meet Whalers players for the re-launch of EA Sports NHL 15 on Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 4-8 pm at Destiny Games.
Destiny Games is located at 42134 Ford Road in Canton .
The Whalers will report to Destiny Games in two-hour shifts on Tuesday. As in past seasons, Mitch Jones, Alex Nedeljkovic, Matt Mistele, Gianluca Curcuruto and other Whalers will cheerfully take on all challengers of all ages in a variety of scenarios.
The Canadian Hockey League has been part of the EA Sports NHL series since 2011. Gamers can match the Whalers against the Windsor Spitfires, the Western Hockey League Portland Winterhawks, or the Quebec Major Junior League's Halifax Mooseheads.
The various CHL uniforms, crests and lettering are realistic and gamers can play CHL teams in rinks like the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium, London's Budweiser Gardens, Sudbury Community Arena or Compuware Arena.
Plymouth Whalers alum Tyler Seguin - now with the Dallas Stars - has been part of the CHL's introduction into the EA Sports NHL series since the beginning in 2011.
He played Chicago's Jonathan Toews in June of 2010 as part of the re-launch of EA Sports NHL 11.
"I grew up playing his game and my teammates and I were thrilled to hear that CHL players will be featured in the game," Seguin told www.chl.ca then. "This is definitely a cool new way for fans to interact with us."
Typical of the flexibility of the EA Sports NHL series, Seguin back then played his Whalers against Toews' Chicago Blackhawks.
On Tuesday, fans can test their own abilities against the Whalers at Destiny Games.
