Sarnia Sting News Release

The Sarnia Sting will take on the Flint Firebirds this Friday night at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena. The Sting will not only look for 2 points and a win against the division rivals but will also be playing to help end domestic violence in our community.

The Sting are once again proud to partner with the local Women's interval home to help raise awareness and curve domestic violence in the Sarnia-Lambton Area. Fans will notice a purple theme in the arena as the players tape up with purple tape and the coaches donning purple ties for the contest. The game will also consist of a ceremonial puck drop, public address and videoboard messaging promoting all local services available. Proceeds from the evenings Chuck-A-Puck will also go to support the local Women's Interval Home.

"As an organization we hold certain core values in which we look to instill in our community as well as the young men who don the Sarnia Sting logo each night. Domestic Violence is one of those issues that is easily swept under the rug and one in which tends to get ignored by many involved. Our goal in this partnership is to use our platform to not only help curb domestic violence but to also promote the services available locally to those who may be experiencing some form of domestic violence, whether it be mental or physical." Sting President Bill Abercrombie comments on the continuing partnership.
