Sarnia Sting News Release
SARNIA, ON - Sarnia Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair announced today that the team has completed a trade with London which sees overage goaltender Dylan Myskiw join the Knights, along with a conditional 3rd round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. In return, the Sting will receive goaltender Jordan Kooy, a prospect of the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights.
Kooy spent parts of four seasons with the Knights compiling 34 wins in 66 games in London. The Bradford, ON native is coming off a 16-win campaign with London in 2018-19, and at the NHL level he was selected by Vegas with its 7th round pick in 2018. He has also been chosen to represent Team OHL in the upcoming 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series.
Originally an 8th round pick by London in 2016, Kooy was named to the OHL's Second All-Rookie Team in 2017-18. That season also saw Kooy receive the league's Dinty Moore Trophy as he produced the best goals against average for a first year netminder.
Myskiw was recently obtained by the Sting through waivers after suiting up with Victoria, Brandon, and Edmonton of the Western Hockey League. He appeared in one game this year with the Oil Kings after posting a 28-win season in 2018-19 in Edmonton.
Sarnia Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair comments on todays transaction with the Knights. "When you have the opportunity to acquire a top tier goaltender it is something you need to explore. Jordan is looking forward to a fresh start and we are happy that circumstances allowed us to go out and make this move. We are thrilled to bring a goalie of Jordan's caliber to our team. He is an NHL drafted goaltender who was just recently named to the CIBC Canada/Russia series roster and his body of work in our league speaks for itself. I would officially like to welcome Jordan and his family to the Sting organization."
