Fayetteville Marksmen News Release

[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that Head Coach Tommy Stewart will be taking a leave from the club to be with his family after the unexpected death of his brother, Matt, on Sunday.

Stewart has returned to his hometown of Brantford, Ontario to attend the funeral which is scheduled for tomorrow. He is expected to miss the FireAntz' next two games, on Thursday at home against Jacksonville and Saturday at Twin City. Kevin MacNaught, the President/General Manager of the FireAntz will assume duties behind the bench at both games.

"Our thoughts and prayers, from the entire FireAntz' organization, are with Tommy and his family." MacNaught said, "Tragedies like this make hockey seem so unimportant. At this point, we are going to give Tommy as much time as he needs to spend with his family."

Stewart is expected to return to the FireAntz, next week, prior to their homestand on February 23rd and 24th.
