August 10, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Caleb Stewart's three-run homer in the eighth put the Binghamton Mets ahead, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats rallied for a 5-4, 10-inning win at NYSEG Stadium Sunday. The B-Mets dropped three in a row to New Hampshire after winning the series opener.

New Hampshire (53-69) went ahead against Tobi Stoner in the first in David Smith's sacrifice fly.

However, Binghamton (63-60) rallied to tie in the second. Back-to-back, one-out singles by Salomon Manriquez and Shawn Bowman put runners at the corners for Josh Petersen, whose fielder's choice scored Manriquez, knotting the score 1-1.

Ryan Patterson put the Fisher Cats ahead 3-1 with a two-run homer in the sixth.

Jonathan Malo began Binghamton's eight-inning rally with a single before Mike Carp walked. Stewart followed with a three-run blast to left for a 4-3 B-Mets lead.

J.P. Arencibia's pinch-hit homer off Casey Hoorelbeke in the ninth tied the score 4-4 before David Smith took Tim Lavigne (2-5) deep leading off the 10th.

Daryl Harang (4-5) pitched 1/3 of an inning for the win. Orlando Roman got the final three outs for his first save.

After an off-day Monday, Tuesday, the Binghamton Mets play the opener of a three-game series against the Reading Phillies. Dillon Gee (St. Lucie: 8-6, 3.25) will start for Binghamton against Andrew Carpenter (4-7, 5.99) of Reading. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast beginning at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
