Stephen Strasburg to Pitch Against the Red Wings on Tuesday

The Rochester Red Wings announced today that Washington Nationals top prospect RHP Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to start for Syracuse on Tuesday, May 18 when the Red Wings battle the Syracuse Chiefs at 7:05 p.m. at Frontier Field.

Strasburg, 21, who entered the 2010 season as Baseball America's #2 prospect (Atlanta outfielder Jason Hayward #1), was the first overall pick in the 2009 June baseball draft.

In seven minor league starts between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse, Strasburg has a 5-1 record with a 1.06 ERA. In 34.0 innings of work, Strasburg has allowed nine runs (four earned) on 14 hits while walking eight and striking out 40. Opponents are batting just .121 (14-for-116) against him.

In his two starts for Triple-A Syracuse, Strasburg has a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. In 12.0 innings of work, Strasburg has allowed just one hit and struck out 13.
