Peoria Rivermen News Release

The Iowa Stars received a 26-save performance out of Tobias Stephan and a third period marker from Marty Sertich as they held off the Peoria Rivermen 1-0 on Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The two teams battled through a scoreless 40 minutes of play, with each goaltender making several saves along the way and keeping the game even.

Finally in the third period, following a failed power play attempt, the Stars kept the pressure in the Peoria zone, with Sertich finally connecting off a centering feed from Chris Connor at 10:39 for the game's lone marker.

Later in the period, with Chris Beckford-Tseu (24 saves) on the bench for the extra attacker, Tobias Stephan made some of his best saves to preserve the win. Repeated chances in front of the net were batted away by the Stars netminder and the Iowa defensive corps, as the Rivermen failed to score for just the second time this season.

The Rivermen will now move on to Milwaukee for a game against the Admirals at 4 pm Sunday afternoon. The Rivermen pre-game show kicks off one-half hour before puck drop on your Home for Rivermen Hockey, 96.5 ESPN RADIO.
