Moose release Benedict from PTO

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they have released forward Brandon Benedict from his pro tryout contract.

Benedict, 25, was signed to a PTO on Jan. 31/08 and made his AHL debut with the Moose on Feb. 2 vs. Hamilton. Prior to joining the Moose, the Halifax, NS native played in 41 games with the ECHL's Texas Wildcatters, where he scored 15 goals and 33 assists for 48 points and 35 penalty minutes. In four seasons at Acadia University, Benedict played in 99 games and scored 38 goals and 79 assists for 117 points and 72 penalty minutes. He also spent five seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL where he played 343 games and scored 119 goals and 184 assists for 303 points and 285 penalty minutes.
